
Tech track & field begins outdoor season this weekend

The Red Raiders will be split between ACU and TCU this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field program will begin its outdoor portion of the season this Friday and Saturday between the TCU Invite and the ACU Wes Kittley Invite.
Tech throws and pole vault squads will be at TCU, while the rest of the Red Raiders travel down the road to Abiliene for the 11th annual Wes Kittley Invite.
The Red Raiders capped off the indoor season with a pair of top-10 team finishes at the men placed eighth overall, while the women's team place 10th with a program-high 21.5 points – 16.5 points coming from high and triple jump. Earlier Thursday afternoon, Kittley was named the USTFCCCA Men's and Women's Mountain Region Coach of the Year. Malachi Snow earned the region's Men's Track Athlete of the Year as Temitope Adeshina claimed the region's Women's Field Athlete of the Year.

The first set of USTFCCCA outdoor team rankings are set to debut on April 1.
In the Know
On the pole vault side, Olivia Cade and Kashlee Dickinson will make their outdoor debut. Over on the throw side, Trey Wilson III and Zoe Burleson are expected to go as well. Both made the NCAA outdoor meet last season, Wilson competing in the shot put and Burleson in the discus.
The distance carnival will take place at ACU as the rest of the short and long sprints take place Saturday afternoon. Charlie Bartholomew is the only Red Raider from the NCAA indoor rest that is set to run in Abilene – 4x400 alternate but did not compete last week.
