Longhorns pick up 11-0 win over Tech in final game of Bevo Classic
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 8/11 Red Raiders (8-3) lost to No. 1 Texas (11-0) 11-0 in five innings on Sunday afternoon in the last game of the Bevo Classic.
The Longhorns jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and proceeded to add six more runs in the third and their final run in the fifth.
Tech had baserunners, loading the bases in the first and third innings and had runners on the corners in the second inning, but timely strikeouts from Teagan Kavan good Texas defense left the Red Raiders stranded.
Logan Halleman went 2-for-2 at the plate and made some difficult running catches in left field as Mihyia Davis also recorded two hits in three at-bats. Hailey Toney and Victoria Valdez also recorded hits while Bailey Lindemuth reached safely via a walk and NiJaree Canady reached on a hit by pitch and a fielding error.
Brenlee Gonzales pitched the final inning for Tech, retiring all three batters she faced in the top of the fourth inning.
UP NEXT: Tech will face North Texas on Tuesday in Denton before hosting the Jeannine McHaney Classic next weekend.
