No. 8/11 Tech set for weekend in Austin

Tech to take on UMass, No. 1 Texas and Maryland this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 8/11 Texas Tech (5-1) will head to Austin this weekend to compete in the Bevo Classic hosted by No. 1 Texas (5-0). The Red Raiders will face UMass, Texas and Maryland beginning on Friday.
Tech will open the weekend against the Minutewomen (3-2) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at McCombs Field before playing in-state rival Texas at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Tech will face UMass again at 11 a.m. and follow that game with a matchup against Maryland (3-2) at 1:30 p.m. before closing out the weekend against the Longhorns on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Notable stats:
The Red Raiders found ways to win in the NFCA Leadoff Classic. They were trailing entering the seventh inning in two of the five games they won and were able to mental toughness to come from behind.
Against Penn State, the Red Raiders were down 9-5 in the top of the seventh before rattling off five runs and then getting three outs from the arm of Brenlee Gonzales to secure the 10-9 win. Raegan Jennings set a career high in RBI with four, as she hit two two-run singles, including on in the top of the seventh that put Tech up.
Down 5-0 to No. 16 Nebraska, NiJaree Canady launched a three-run homer in the sixth inning to make it a 5-4 ball game heading into the seventh. Tech was able to force some Cornhuskers errors and bring home two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off.
