Lady Raiders host Arkansas on Sunday afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (4-0) host the Arkansas Razorbacks for a game on Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. Arkansas leads the all-time series against Texas Tech with a 10-19 record, winning seven of the last 10 games. However, the Lady Raiders won the last meeting against the Razorbacks on Dec. 15, 2024 by a 75-72 score, which marked the first time Tech defeated Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., in program history.
The Lady Raiders are averaging 82.8 points per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the field (114-for-238) and 39.6 percent from behind the arc (40-for-101). The team's field goal percentage ranks 49th nationally and their 3-point percentage is ranked 30th. In addition, Tech is making 10 threes per game, which is 14th in the country. The Lady Raiders scored back-to-back games with 80+ points in regulation play, which hasn't happened since the 2019-20 season. Tech has also totaled two 30+ point scoring quarters already, which also hasn't been done since the 2023-24 season.
Junior Jalynn Bristow is putting up numbers in the first four games of the season. She put together career games against NC A&T and Texas State and was named to the Big 12 Starting Five. Most recently against SMU, she totaled her first career double-double with 20 points and a career-best 10 rebounds. Bristow is top 30 in the nation in multiple categories - sixth in blocks (13), 12th in blocks per game (3.25), 20th in points (71), 22nd in field goals (26), 27th in field goal attempts (55) and 1st in free throw percentage (11-for-11).
The Lady Raiders rank 12th nationally in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to just 28.2 percent from the field. They are 15th in blocks per game with 7.3, 46th in scoring defense holding teams to 50.5 points per game and 44th in 3-point percentage defense after holding opponents to 21.8 percent from behind the arc.
Senior Gemma Núñez is leading the Lady Raiders in assists with 28 on the season, checking in at fifth nationally and second in the Big 12 in the category. Her 7.0 assists per game also checks in at 13th int he country and she has led the team in assists in three out of four games, while recording five or more assists in each game so far. In addition, her 13 steals lead the team and ranks 16th in the nation. She is one of three players nationally to have at least 25 assists and 10 steals in the season.
Senior Snudda Collins surpassed 1,000 career points against SMU on Thursday after scoring 17 points on 6-for-8 (.750) shooting and 2-for-3 (.667) from behind the arc. The second leading scorer on the team, Collins is shooting 55.6 percent from the field (25-for-45) and 56.3 percent from the 3-point line (9-for-16). She is tied for second nationally in points off the bench (68) while ranking tied for fourth in points per game off the bench (17.0).
Senior Bailey Maupin had one of her best games of her career against SMU on Thursday. Scoring a team-best 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting (.600) and making a career-high of four threes on 57.1 percent shooting, Maupin was only two points behind her career-high of 28. She also recorded four rebounds, five assists and a career-high of two blocks. This is the second time this season she tallied five or more assists in a game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Arkansas Razorbacks are 4-0 heading into Lubbock and are looking to avenge their 75-72 home loss to the Lady Raiders last season. The team is coached by Kelsi Musick, who previously spent three seasons at Oral Roberts, posting a 61-39 (.610) career record. The Razorbacks average a blistering 87.8 points per game and are shooting 40 percent from three this season. They get to the free-throw line as good as anyone, ranking first nationally with 82 total free throws made. Arkansas also ranks in the top-25 nationally per game in three-pointers made (9.8), rebounds (49.8) and blocks (6). The team is propelled by its star guard duo, Talyeah Jones and Bonnie Deas. Jones, a transfer from Oral Roberts, leads the team with 15 points per game, 3.8 assists per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Deas, a true freshman, is averaging 14.3 points per game on 47 percent shooting from three and leads the Razorbacks with 8.5 rebounds per game. Forward Emily Robinson, another Oral Roberts transfer, adds 12.5 points per game on a scorching 62 percent from three, which ranks second in the SEC.
