
Tech wraps up Corky Classic weekend

Adeshina Temitope and Evelyn Lavielle secured top-5 high jump marks in the NCAA
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up the two-day Corky  Classic meet Saturday afternoon at the Sports Performance Center.
Newcomer Busola Akinduro led the women's triple jump squad leaping a new PB of 13.26m (43-6) on her final jump to finish second overall. Right behind her in third was Suzan Ogunleye with a new PB bound of 13.19m (43-3 ¼) on her fifth jump.
Early on to start the day, Fanny Arendt placed first in the women's 1000m with a time of 2:49.67 – her first time running the event collegiately. Over in the throws ring, Zoe Burleson set a new PB in the shot put throwing 15.40m (50-6 ¼) to lead the Tech women.
In the men's high jump, Bradford Jennings took home the meet clearing a PB 2.17m (7-1 ½) – his second competition as a Red Raider after an injury outdoors sat him out the rest of the season. His mark today is currently sixth in the nation.
Temitope Adeshina bowed out of the high jump competition in first with the No. 2 mark in the nation as of today. Adeshina cleared 1.89m (6-2 ¼). Meanwhile, newcomer Evelyn Lavielle finished second clearing 1.86m (6-1 ¼), a new PB.

·     Tamiah Washington finished 6th in the triple jump leaping 12.98m (42-7) (PB)
·     Lily Mather finished with a 2:51.38 (PB) in the 1000m
·     Valeria Banuelos secured a PB time of 5:42.28 in the mile
·     Nakacee McNab secured a PB time of 1:37.68 in the 600yd
