
Tech concludes play at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders finished play at the ITA All-American Championships this past weekend in North Carolina.
In the tournament, the Lady Raiders faced some tough competition. Starting out were Lady Raiders Yekaterina Dmitrichenko and Andreea Lila in the prequalifying singles draw. Dmitrichenko took on North Carolina's Alana Boyce, dropping a three-set battle to the Tar Heel by a 7-6 (4), 2-6, 3-6 score. Lila competed against NC State's Mia Slama, also falling in a battle, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 2-6.
Lila would go on to pick up a decisive win against Kansas' Heike Janse van Vuuren, who played at court three for the Jayhawks last year. The Lady Raider defeated van Vuuren in a consolation match, 6-2, 6-4.
In the prequalifying doubles draw, the duo of Dmitrichenko and Avelina Sayfetdinova dropped a match to 5-seeded and No. 71-ranked pairing of Carolina Gomez Alonso and Olga Bienzobas of Arkansas, 5-7, 2-6. Sayfetdinova also competed in the qualifying singles draw, losing in a tough match to No. 89-ranked Kailey Evans of San Diego, 3-6, 1-6.
Up next, the Lady Raiders head to Abilene, Texas for the Wildcat Invitational on Sept. 27-29. Â
