Tech takes home Arturo Barrios title Friday morning

The Red Raiders next meet will be Big 12s in Waco
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas Tech cross country team was led by individual winners Solomon Kipchoge and Juliet Cherubet Friday morning at the Watts Cross Country Course. The men's side took home the Arturo Barrios Invite title, scoring 62 points thanks to a 1-2-7-11-41 scoring.

Kipchoge crossed the end line with an 8k time of 22:01.40 as Ernest Cheruiyot placed second at 22:20.40. Vincent Koech (22:38) crossed the line seventh with Nathan Kapel (23:01) in 12th and Edwin Kiprono (23:40) in 43rd overall, rounding out the scoring. There were two runners in the field of 43 that were not a part of the scoring, giving Tech 11th and 41st.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Cherubet left no doubt this morning. She clocked in a 6k time of 18:37.00, winning the meet by 24 seconds. In the process, she shattered Parker Valby's 2023 course record of 18:58.20. Throughout each splits (2, 3.2, 4.1 and 5.4) Cherubet never surrendered the lead.

Anastasia Chepkorir was the only other Red Raider in the top-20 field as she placed 13th with a time of 19:41.80.
