November 16, 2023 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (3-0) are set to host their fourth-consecutive home game as they take on the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions at United Supermarkets Arena on Friday, November 17 at 6 p.m.
The Lady Raiders are coming off a 61-44 victory over the Lamar Cardinals on Monday. It was a solid defensive effort for Tech after the team forced 24 turnovers in the contest with 11 steals and five blocks. The Lady Raiders were 18-of-52 from the field for a .346 shooting percentage and made six three-pointers on 23 attempts (.261).
Both Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers are leading the team in scoring as they are the only Lady Raiders who have recorded double-figures in all three games. Shavers tallied 26 points against UTRGV, 11 against Tarleton and 16 against Lamar as she is the leading Tech scorer with 17.7 points per game. Maupin is just behind as she had two games with 16 points as well as 13 points against the Cardinals. She is second on the team with 15.0 ppg.
Other Lady Raider notables:
- Texas Tech has held opponents to single-digit scoring in the first two quarters, as well as under 20 points in the first half, in all three contests.
- Not only is Maupin shooting the ball great as the team's second-leading scorer, but she has also led the Lady Raiders in assists in all three games - tallying 4, 3 and 3 against UTRGV, Tarleton and Lamar, respectively, with 3.3 assists per game.
- Coming into the game on Monday, Lamar only averaged 9.5 turnovers per game. But, the Lady Raiders' smothering defense more than doubled that after forcing 24 Cardinal turnovers.
