Red Raiders Defeat No. 30 Tulane 4-3
DALLAS - Texas Tech men's tennis defeated No. 30 Tulane to go undefeated this weekend and raise their overall record to 6-2.
Parker Wynn and Franco Ribero defeated Tulane's Ewan Moore and Hamish Stewart 6-4, but it wasn't enough as Tulane took the doubles point. Faced with the early deficit, Tech rallied together and made up ground in singles play.
Singles went back and forth all afternoon, but Danny Whitehead's team stayed resilient. Sophomore Reed Collier put the Red Raiders on the board first winning his singles match 6-4, 6-2. Junior Dimitrios Azoidis put the Red Raiders in front after securing his singles win 6-2, 6-3. Junior Issac Arevalo logged the longest match of the day as he secured the win for Tech, winning his three set battle 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
Coach Whitehead was proud of his team for their focus after an unorthodox weekend. "Our guys adjusted to a new schedule, and were excited to compete. They fought hard today. Losing the doubles point was tough, but they just kept going and working. I am really proud of our effort this weekend."
