Cross Country Recap: Tech Wraps up Chile Pepper Festival Meet

The Red Raiders will have one more meet before the Big 12 Championships take place
Fayetteville, Ark. – The Texas Tech cross country programs concluded its third regular season meet at the 33rd annual Chile Pepper Festival Friday evening at Agri Park.Â

Halena Rahmaan paced the women's side coming in ninth overall as she shattered her previous 5K record of 18:05.6 with a time of 17:15.5 Friday evening. The previous mark also came at the Chile Pepper Festival back in 2019.

Meanwhile on the men's side, freshman Thomas Velvin led the way finishing 58th with a time of 25:27.3. His season-best 8k mark was at the Cowboy Jamboree (26:29.1) which took place two weekends ago.Â

Overall, the men's side place 14th while the women's team finished 15th.Â

Tech is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
