ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
Winners of nine in a row to open the 2019-20 campaign, the Lady Raiders are looking to extend their hot streak heading into Sunday's matinee showdown with Louisiana-Monroe. Texas Tech is armed with a trio of returners from a season ago paired with a talented cast of newcomers who have led the team to its best start to a season in eight years.
Â
Brittany Brewer is off to an outstanding start to her senior season, ranking in the top five of the conference in scoring and rebounding, and leading the nation in blocks per game at a 5.1 clip. Sophomore point guard Chrislyn Carr ranks second in the Big 12 in assists per game, while junior two-way guard Sydney Goodson is averaging 10.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. Those three lead a squad with five players averaging double-figure scoring. That group also includes freshman standout Alexis Tucker, coming off her third 20-point performance of the year, and JuCo transfer Jo'Nah Johnson.
Â
EYEING THE OPPONENT
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (1-8) come into Sunday's matchup following a 63-51 loss at North Texas on Friday night. The Warhawks are 1-2 against common opponents with Tech, owning a 63-54 win over Northwestern State last month, and a pair of losses against Houston Baptist and Ole Miss. Senior Lauren Fitch leads ULM in scoring as the lone player in double figures with 14.6 points per game as well as 5.2 rebounds per contest. The Warhawks are led by Brooks Donald Williams in her first season as head coach at ULM, following a three-year stint at Alabama.
