LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lady Raider basketball team continues its whirlwind homestand this Tuesday as it hosts Prairie View A&M at United Supermarkets Arena. Tipoff is set for noon. The game is the team's annual Education Day game.

ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
Off to the program's best start in eight seasons, the Lady Raiders are on a hot streak entering Tuesday afternoon's game against Prairie View A&M. For only the sixth time in program history, Texas Tech is 7-0 to start the season following a gutsy, 59-51 victory over Houston Baptist on Sunday.

The Lady Raiders are led by three top returners, including senior Brittany Brewer who has four games of 15+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ blocks this season. Additionally, sophomore point guard Chrislyn Carr is the conference leader in assists per game, and two-way junior Sydney Goodson who ranks in the top 20 in the Big 12 in scoring and rebounding, as well as third in steals.

Freshman Alexis Tucker and junior Jo'Nah Johnson lead the Lady Raider newcomers, both earning starting spots in the Tech lineup. Sunday's game also gave fans their first look at UConn transfer Lexi Gordon.

EYEING THE OPPONENT
The Prairie View A&M Panthers (2-7) have faced a tough start to their 2019-20 schedule in which they've faced off with a number of Power Five competition, including Oklahoma, Texas A&M and a tight contest with Florida. Prairie View is coming off a 77-55 loss at Rice on Sunday afternoon in Houston. Senior Bernesha Peters leads the Panthers in scoring at 10.4 points per contest. Second-year head coach Sandy Pugh guided the Panthers to a 17-14 season in 2019-20--the program's best season in seven years--as well as a second-place regular season finish in the SWAC.

- With a win on Tuesday, the Lady Raiders would begin the season 8-0 for the first time in eigh seasons (2011-12) and the sixth time in program history.

- Off to their first 7-0 start in eight seasons, Texas Tech is one of 12 undefeated teams in Division I remaining after the first month of the season, and one of only two left in the Big 12.

- Through six games, Texas Tech has held all six of its opponents to 60 or fewer points and less than 40 percent shooting from the field. The Lady Raiders have held opponents to an average of 53.3 points per game which ranks No. 14 in the country and second in the conference.

- The Lady Raiders have been excellent at moving the ball through five games this season, averaging 20.3 assists per game to rank second in the Big 12 and sixth nationally. In fact, Chrislyn Carr (5.9 apg) and Jo'Nah Johnson 4.6 apg) both rank in the top five individually in the Big 12.

- Against Houston Baptist, Texas Tech senior Brittany Brewer became the third player in program history to reach 200 career blocks. With 201 career blocks currently, Brewer needs 15 more blocks to pass Kierra Mallard for second on the school blocks list.  Â
