LUBBOCK, Texas - Senior Corey Taylor allowed one run in 4.2 relief innings and sophomore Anthony Lyons drove in the game-winning run with a pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth inning leading No. 17 Texas Tech to a 3-2 victory over Kansas on Sunday afternoon while winning the three-game series in front of 3,812 fans at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
Texas Tech (18-10, 3-3 Big 12) won its seventh consecutive home series - including four in Big 12 play - with a combined record of 22-1 dating back to last season. The Jayhawks (10-17, 1-2 Big 12) out-hit Tech, 7-4, but left town with back-to-back losses after winning the series opener on Friday.
Tech's four base hits marked its fewest during a Big 12 win since 2013 (3 hits at Texas) while recording its fewest hits in a series finale victory since 2011 (4 vs. Nebraska).

Tech starting pitcher Ty Damron made his first career Big 12 start in the no decision going four-plus innings allowing a run on two hits with a strikeout and a career-high four walks.
Tech tied the game at one and then took the lead in the fifth inning when junior outfielder Tyler Neslony drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game, and junior first baseman Eric Gutierrez gave Tech the lead with a sacrifice fly to score catcher Tyler Floyd.
KU tied the game scoring a run in the top of the eighth inning with a leadoff walk and later an RBI single to left field.
Tech scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Gutierrez started the inning with a walk and advanced to second base on Cory Raley's sacrifice bunt. Senior shortstop Tim Proudfoot grounded out to shortstop for the second out and Gutierrez moved to third base. Lyons then singled with two outs to score Gutierrez for the go-ahead run.
Gutierrez went 1-for-2 with an RBI, Proudfoot went 1-for-4, third baseman Orlando Garcia went 1-for-4 with a run and Lyons (1-for-1) were the only Red Raiders with a base hit.
