Texas Tech Improves To 10-2 With Win

Freshman Alex Sendegeya picked up his ninth win of the season to lead Texas Tech past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-0.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech (10-2) picked up its 10th win of the season on Sunday, as the Red Raiders blanked Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the McLeod Tennis Center.
It was the second time in four days that a Texas Tech head tennis coach had defeated a former assistant. On Thursday, Lady Raider head coach Todd Petty defeated for Hayden Perez and the Memphis Tigers.
The Islanders (3-3) are led by former Red Raider assistant Steve Moore, who served un Siegel at Texas Tech.
Things seem to be coming together for the Red Raiders, as Texas Tech started the day with a solid effort in doubles. Francisco Zambon and Jolan Cailleau cruised to a 6-1 wins at No. 2. The nationally-ranked No. 22 tandem of Felipe Soares and Hugo Dojas then secured the point at No. 1 with a 6-3 victory.
It seemed like speed play in singles, as Alex Sendegeya and Zambon throttled their counterparts, 6-1, in the first set. Cailleau followed at 6-3 and then both Soares and Connor Curry made the turn at 6-4.
Sendegeya and Zambon both picked up wins with double ones (6-1, 6-1) and suddenly it as 3-0 with four matches to play.
#125 Cailleau wrapped the match up, 6-3, 6-3 over Guillaume Rauseo at No. 4 to give Texas Tech the 4-0 win and its best start of the season since 2010.
The Red Raiders return to the prestigious Blue and Gray National Tennis Classic on Friday. The draw will be set on Wednesday for the invitational-only event.
