Stone Honored with Regional Award

2015 NSCAA South Region Coach of the Year Tom Stone.
Lubbock, Texas -- Ninth year head women's soccer coach Tom Stone was named the NSCAA's Central Region Coach of the Year by the NSCAA on Monday afternoon. Stone's distinction marks the first time in program history that a Texas Tech head coach has received the honor.
Stone guided the Red Raiders to a 14-4-5 overall record in the 2015 season including a 3-2-3 record in conference play capped by Texas Tech's first ever Big 12 Tournament Championship. The 2015 season ended with a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime loss in the second round of the NCAA Championship.Through the month of November, Stone and the Red Raiders held the nation's longest unbeaten streak. The streak included eight victories and lasted exactly 50 days.
Stone, who entered the 2015 as the winningest coach in Texas Tech soccer history, earned his 100th career win with a 2-1 overtime victory over South Florida on September 20 and finished the season with a 108-57-20 overall career record.
During his nine seasons in Lubbock, Stone has completely transformed the Texas Tech soccer program into one of the nation's elite programs. The Red Raiders have made four straight NCAA postseason appearances hosting the first round in all four seasons. Stone has also recorded the most wins of any Big 12 coach over the last four seasons with 63 wins since 2012.
