Beckie and Murphy Earn All-Big 12 Soccer Honors

Beckie is the only Texas Tech soccer player to earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors twice in her career.
Lubbock, Texas --Texas Tech Senior Janine Beckie was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year on Monday, highlighting Texas Tech's selections to the All-Big 12 teams that were determined in a vote of the conference coaches.
"It is an absolute honor to be named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year," said Beckie. "My teammates and my coaches are the ones who that make it possible for me to even be considered for this award. Without them at their best I do not get to do the things I do. I wish this could be a team award for my whole team. I am grateful and blessed to play in a conference like the Big 12 where I am constantly challenged as a player. It makes me better every day. Thank you to the conference, I am humbled and incredibly blessed to say that I am a Big 12 athlete."
In addition to being named as the league's top offensive performer, Beckie was also an All-Big 12 honoree as she was named to the All-Big 12 First team for the fourth consecutive year.
Alli Murphy was named to the All-Big 12 second team to round out the Red Raider selections for the 2015 season.
Beckie is the first Red Raider in program history to be named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons after leading the league in shots (52), points (14) and goals (7) during conference play in 2015.
Beckie's selection this season represents the fourth All-Big 12 selection, the longest streak in school history. Beckie has now joined former Red Raider, and current Women's national team member, Jaelene Hinkle for the most career selections to all-Conference teams.Beckie and represents one of just six players in school history who have earned a mention on either the first or second team three or more times in a career, joining the likes of Kristy Frantz and Taylor Lytle.
The Red Raiders open the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday afternoon with a 2 p.m. kickoff against Oklahoma at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. The match will air live on the Big 12 Digital Network via Big12sports.com with Lincoln Rose on the call.
