Tadlock and the Red Raiders received a 13th ranked 2014 recruiting class which matches the highest in school history (2000).
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball program received a No. 13 ranking for its 2014 recruiting class by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced Monday. The ranking matches the program's highest in school history (2000).
It marks the second straight season that head coach Tim Tadlock, recruiting coordinator J-Bob Thomas, pitching coach Ray Hayward and director of baseball operations Joe Hughes have had a recruiting class ranked among the top 30 in the country by Collegiate Baseball.
The last time Tech had recruiting classes nationally-ranked in back-to-back years was in 2000 (13th) and 2001 (16th).
Collegiate Baseball's rankings are based on student-athletes who enroll at school for the fall semester. Student-athletes who initially signed letters of intent with a school but then signed a pro contract after being drafted do not count in the overall evaluation.
Each of Tadlock's two recruiting classes as head coach at Tech have been nationally ranked - the 2013 class received its highest ranking at No. 24 by Perfect Game following the November signing period during the 2012-13 school year. The Red Raiders 2013 recruiting class was also ranked 27th by Collegiate Baseball a year ago.
The Red Raiders most recent recruiting class includes high school and junior college standouts. The recruiting class features three players selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, numerous all-conference and all-state selections, several players that won conference, regional and national championships and also a number of players that were tabbed All-America.
