LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program was honored this week with the NSCAA Team Academic Award that is presented to schools across the country with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA and then dividing by the total number of players.
Tech compiled a 3.30 team GPA during the 2013-14 academic year which was boosted by 20 student-athletes posting at least one semester with a 3.50 or better GPA.
In addition to their success in the classroom, the Red Raiders are coming off a third round appearance in the NCAA Championship, the furthest Tech has ever advanced in the tournament. Tech ended the year 16-4-2 overall and ranked among the top 16 teams in the country.
Congratulations to the 861 collegiate soccer teams that earned the #NSCAA Team Academic Award for 2013-14! http://t.co/SooV2K48B4
