WASHINGTON RECORDS CAREER DAY ON THE GROUND
DeAndre Washington carried the load for the Red Raider offense Saturday, setting career highs for both attempts (29) and yards (138). The junior rushed for 79 yards during the first half alone en route to surpassing his previous career high of 104 yards set earlier this year against Central Arkansas. Washington had previously carried the ball 20 or more times just once in his career, which also came in the 2014 season opener against Central Arkansas. His 138 yards of rushing mark the most by a Red Raider so far this season, surpassing the Justin Stockton's previous mark of 135 yards against UTEP.
RED RAIDERS END STREAK OF LOSING TURNOVER BATTLE
Texas Tech snapped a 13-game streak Saturday of losing the turnover battle as the Red Raiders committed only one in the game off a Davis Webb interception late in the first half. West Virginia committed its lone turnover off a Clint Trickett fumble that was forced by a Pete Robertson sack. Demetrius Alston recovered the fumble with came with 4:10 remaining in the third quarter.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
? Senior receiver Bradley Marquez now has at least one reception in 35 of 37 career games.
? Devin Lauderdale scored Texas Tech's first touchdown (34-yard shovel pass) of the day and gave the Red Raiders a 7-3 lead with 3:05 left to go in the first quarter. The touchdown was the first of his career.
? Lauderdale gave Tech a 14-3 lead on Tech's next offensive possession when he scored on a 76-yard touchdown reception from Davis Webb. The TD pushed him over 100 yards for the game, marking his first 100-yard receiving game of his Tech career.
? Lauderdale scored his second of two touchdowns on the day off a career-high 76-yard reception with 1:05 remaining in the first quarter. It was the longest reception for a Red Raider since Michael Crabtree caught a 82 yard in 2008 against Nevada.
? Jakeem Grant gave Texas Tech a 21-10 lead with a 43-yard TD reception from Davis Webb with just over 11 minutes to go in the second quarter. The TD was his fifth of the season and the 15th of his career.
? With three touchdown passes today, sophomore quarterback Davis Webb moved into 8th place on the Texas Tech career passing touchdowns list. He surpassed Billy Joe Toliver (1985-88) who threw 38 TD passes.

? Senior kicker Ryan Bustin gave Texas Tech a 27-13 lead late in third quarter with a pair of field goals. His last field goal attempt and make came in the second game of the season at UTEP. His second field goal make (following the fumble recovery by Demetrius Alston) moved him into a tie for second place with Bill Adams on the career field goals list at Texas Tech.
? Justin Stockton recorded his second 65-yard carry already this season with a 69-yard touchdown with 7:32 remaining in the fourth quarter. Stockton previously ran for a 75-yard touchdown earlier this season against UTEP.
TEAM NOTES
? Texas Tech extended its consecutive game scoring streak to 213 games with a touchdown by Devin Lauderdale in the first quarter. The streak currently ranks 13th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference behind Kansas State. Of those 213 games, Texas Tech has scored in double digits 199 times.
? Texas Tech's 14 points in the first quarter were the most by the Red Raiders in the opening period of a game this season.
? Texas Tech had a lead at halftime (21-10) for the first time since the game at UTEP on Sept. 8. The Red Raiders averaged 8.2 yards-per-play in the first half against the Mountaineer defense.
? The Texas Tech defense got its first turnover of the game late in the third quarter thanks to a sack/forced fumble by Pete Robertson and a fumble recovery by Demetrius Alston.
