TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Jermaine Marshall scored 20 of his 27 points in the second half, Jahii Carson had 16 points and 13 assists, and Arizona State rolled to a 76-62 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday night.
Coming off a six-day break, Arizona State (10-2) had trouble getting shots to fall early. The Sun Devils started to find the range late in the first half during a closing 11-0 run and kept the cushion in the second, improving to 7-0 at home this season.
Texas Tech jumped out early, hitting 8 of 16 shots from the lead and taking a three-point ead twice, but a late first half drought halted the Red Raiders. Tech converted just one of its final 14 shots of the half, as ASU went on an 11-0 run to close the first frame.
Marshall hit seven of Arizona State's 10 3-pointers and Carson added eight rebounds while finishing with the most assists by an ASU player in 16 years.
Texas Tech (7-5) couldn't overcome Arizona State's first-half run due to poor shooting. The Red Raiders shot 36 percent and made 1 of 13 from 3-point range for their third loss in four games.
Jordan Tolbert and Dejan Kravic each recorded double-doubles, as Tolbert finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Kravic had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The last time Texas Tech had two players record a double-double in the same game was against Iowa State on Jan. 16, 2011, when Mike Singletary recorded 33 points and 10 rebounds and D’walyn Roberts had 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Tolbert also ecliped 800 career points on the night, as the junior now has 815 points.
Texas Tech returns to action on Dec. 30, when the Red Raiders face Mount St. Mary's at 6 p.m. at United Spirit Arena to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
