LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program earned its highest-ever ranking in the NSCAA Coaches Poll released this afternoon. Tech (15-1-2, 5-0-2 Big 12) jumped six spots to No. 12 and will host Texas in the regular season finale Friday at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The ranking comes following a pair of shutout victories last weekend over both Kansas and No. 9 West Virginia.
The Red Raiders enter the week with the top defense in the country ranking No. 1 in goals-against average and shutout percentage. Tech has shutout 14 of its 18 opponents this year including No. 9 West Virginia Sunday - a squad that was previously unbeaten in Big 12 play and had not lost a regular season conference match since 2011.
Tech will look for its third straight regular season victory against the Longhorns Friday. First kick for the match is set for 7 p.m.
