RECORD NIGHT FOR Darrin Moore
Junior receiver Darrin Moore turned in a career night as he hauled in 221 yards on 12 receptions while adding one touchdown. The 221 receiving yards is the most in a season opener in school history. Moore's 221 receiving yards were the most by a Red Raider since Michael Crabtree caught nine passes for 195 yards at No. 15 Texas on Nov. 10, 2007. Additionally, Moore's 221 receiving yards and 12 receptions put him at No. 9 on both the single-game yardage and single-game reception lists.
DEFENSE NABS BIG TURNOVERS LATE, TIES SCHOOL RECORD
The Texas Tech defense helped seal a Texas Tech rally late in the second half with a pair of crucial turnovers that turned the momentum. The Red Raiders converted all four of Texas State's turnover into points. The first fumble recovery was on Texas State's first drive of the second half at Tech's 16-yard line. The Red Raiders used the opportunity to score and take the lead for good. Tech scored four touchdowns off of four fumbles.
On the night, Tech collected four fumbles and that ties a single-game school record. The last time the Red Raiders forced four fumbles in a game was against TCU in 1993 and before that against Oklahoma State in 1990.
