Scott LeJeune, a two-time All-Big 12 Conference selection, is back with the Red Raiders for his redshirt junior season and is looking to continue his success that has made him one of the best Red Raiders over the last 15 years.
His numbers speak loudly. LeJeune's name is scattered throughout the Texas Tech all-time record book while shining specifically during the clutch, in Big 12 play.
LeJeune ranks fourth in Texas Tech history with a .360 career batting average in Big 12 play while also ranking second in doubles (24), eighth in at-bats (211) and 10th in base hits (76) during conference play. If LeJeune tallies nine doubles this season in league action he will break the school's all-time record for doubles in a career during Big 12 competition (Josh Bard, 1997-99, 32).
After a standout freshman campaign in 2009 where he batted .327 with 14 doubles and 37 RBI, he improved his numbers batting .323 with 74 base hits 28 doubles (second all-time in a single-season at Tech), four home runs and led the team with 58 RBI in 2010.
LeJeune's 28 doubles in 2010 led the Big 12, ranked seventh in the nation and were the most by a Big 12 player since 2004 (Curtis Thigpen, 28).
He also garnered Academic All-Big 12 first team honors during his sophomore season in 2010.
"Scotty is a guy who has hit ever since he has been here," fourth-year head coach Dan Spencer said. "We are very excited to have him in our lineup. He changes our lineup. We are ecstatic with the way he played at first base and with what he brings to our club."
In addition, LeJeune is the Red Raiders active career leader in batting average (.322), base hits (138), doubles (42) and RBI (95) while having played 111 games in a Texas Tech uniform.
