LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior cross country runner Silas Kemboi garnered Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week after his performance at the Texas Tech Open.
Kemboi led the Red Raiders to their first victory of the season with his second-place finish at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open. He covered the 8K course in a time of 24:20.34, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the third place finisher. Texas Tech scored a total fo 25 points in the competition to beat the field by 37 points for the victory.
It is the first honor for Kemboi in his career and first for a Red Raider this season.
