LUBBOCK, Texas - Although the Texas Tech baseball team has wrapped up its fall season, Texas Tech Athletics Communications will continue taking an inside look into the Tech program with Red Raider Profiles on each player.
Brennan Stewart (RHP - 6-0, 180 - R/R -RS Jr./2L - Round Rock, Texas/McNeil)
Brennan Stewart logged 34.1 innings pitched last season during his sophomore season at Texas Tech. Only junior lefty Ben Flora (37.0 IP) threw more innings for a returning Tech pitcher.
Stewart, a right-handed pitcher, was a specialist out of the Red Raider bullpen in 2010 where he made 19 appearances (one start) with a 1-0 record while striking out 19 batters and combining on one shutout.
He pitched a career-high five innings in relief against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3/24) to earn the win during a 10-9 victory at Dan Law Field. He made his first career start against Alabama A&M (4/21) throwing four-shutout innings and striking out a career-best four batters while allowing just two hits.
"Brennan Stewart has really gotten better this fall," head coach Dan Spencer said. "He has been able to throw strikes and complete (in the past), but his stuff has gotten better. He is throwing harder and his breaking ball has gotten better. He will be a valuable guy for us out of our bullpen."
Stewart finished the Red & Black Series with the lowest ERA (0.00) among pitchers with the most innings pitched on both squads. He made two appearances in the annual series while not allowing a run in 4.0 innings of work with two strikeouts.
