
Tech Cross Country Set for NCAA Championships

LUBBOCK, Texas - For the fifth-straight year, the No. 10 Texas Tech Lady Raider cross country team will compete at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships held at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind., Monday morning.
The women's cross country team will try to improve on last season's fourth-place finish at the national meet. The team goes into the meet ranked tenth in the nation but has been as high as No. 3 in the United States & Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings.
Tech heads into the NCAA Championships winning five of its last six meets. Rose Tanui has won four meets on the season and placed second at the remaining two. Caroline Jepleting has provided five top-10 finishes and a top-15 at the NCAA Mountain Regional meet.
Sisters Winrose and Caroline Karunde have finished in the top-10 five times on the season while Purity Biwott, an All-American a year ago, has four top-10 finishes.
The team will face a tough field including top-ranked Villanova, the defending NCAA champion while Florida State is ranked No. 2 followed by No. 3 Georgetown.
