
Tech Ready to Pursue Third-Straight Big 12 Title

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders and No. 4 Lady Raiders cross country teams head to Stillwater, Okla., for this year's Big 12 Cross Country Championships and the Lady Raider's attempt for their third-straight Big 12 crown.
The Lady Raiders will try to become the second school to win three-straight Big 12 titles. The women's race a tough field as No. 7 Colorado, No. 11 Iowa State, No. 15 Texas and No. 27 Oklahoma State are all ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The women's squad has been dominating all season with four wins in four races. Tech's top five runners of Rose Tanui, Caroline Jepleting, Winrose Karunde, Caroline Karunde and Purity Biwott have each placed in the top 10 in every race this season.
Tanui has won three races this season and finished second in the fourth. Jepleting has been equally impressive finishing in the top three of every race this season.
The Red Raiders face a tough road with four teams ranked. No. 2 Oklahoma State is the highest ranked on the men's side followed by No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 9 Colorado and No. 30 Texas.
Seniors Gilbert Limo and Silas Kemboi have led the young team this season. Limo has finished in the top five of every race while Kemboi has been in the top 15 of every race this season.
This year's edition of the Big 12 Cross Country Championships will be held at the Oklahoma State Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Okla. It is the second time to host for Oklahoma State.
