
Tech Cross Country Lands 15 on Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech cross country squads put 15 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country team announced today by the league today.
Five men earned first team honors as Samuel Bushong (mathematics), Zack Dawson (chemical engineering), Andrew Goldstein (microbiology), Valentino Julien (civil engineering) and Kade Parker (mechanical engineering) were all named.
Gilbert Limo (accounting) and Nathan Milles (mass communication) both were honored with second team distinctions.
The women put seven on the first team as Devin Bailey (nutrition), Purity Biwott (nursing), Michelle Guzman (exercise and sports science), Caroline Karunde (nursing), Winrose Karunde (nursing) Katherine Priebe (mechanical engineering) and Kaci Westervelt (nursing) were all honored.
Meagan Willingham (human development and family studies) was named to the second team.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Tech will run at the Stillwater, Okla., this Saturday for the Big 12 Cross Country Championships.
