LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced Saturday that Texas Tech and Kansas will meet in a play-in match for the No. 8 seed at 6 p.m. Monday at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio. The winner will advance and face No. 1-seed Missouri at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the opening round of the Big 12 Championship.
The Red Raiders and Jayhawks, along with Baylor, all finished in a three-way tie for seventh with 12 points at the conclusion of the conference regular season on Friday. All three schools were 1-1 against the other this season. By virtue of the tiebreaker, Baylor will be the No. 7 seed.
The Red Raiders (8-8-3; 3-4-3) enter the match looking to recover from a 2-0 loss to Colorado on Friday, where Tech suffered only its first loss by more than one goal this season. Kansas (12-7-1; 4-6) defeated regular season champion Missouri, 3-2, to force the tiebreaker Friday, while Baylor and Oklahoma ended in a 0-0 tie.
