SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Texas Tech midfielder Taylor Lytle was the only Red Raider named to an All-Big 12 postseason team Monday as the redshirt freshman was honored on both the second and all-newcomer teams.
After rebounding from knee surgery prior to the 2007 season, Lytle, a native of Las Cruces, N.M., finished with five goals and eight assists this season, which was tied for second in the Big 12 and tops among freshmen. She needs one assist to tie both Kristy Patterson and Kristi Frantz atop the Tech single season assist leaders with nine.
No other Tech player in school history has ever been named to two conference postseason teams in the same season. Lytle joins teammate Brittney Harrison as the only Red Raiders to be named to the all-newcomer team.
The Red Raiders will begin play in the Big 12 Conference Championship Wednesday, taking on top-seeded Oklahoma State at 5:30 p.m. at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
