
Tech Lands 13 on Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - Thirteen Red Raiders were named to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Cross country teams with nine earning first-team distinction.
Runners earning first team honors were Eric Ayala (exercise and sport science), Noel Conrad (Russian language & area studies), Logan Culotta (exercise and sport sciences), Tori Epperson (exercise sport and sciences), Michelle Guzman (exercise and sport sciences), Cory Higgns (civil engineering), Addison LeMaster (human development & family studies), Gilbert Limo (general business) and Katherine Priebe (engineering).
LeMaster was one of eight student-athletes in the conference to have a 4.0 grade-point average.
Chep Boit (exercise and sport science), Jeremy Kight (civil engineering), Gladys Kipsang (nursing) and Kaci Westervelt (pre-nursing) all earned second-team honors.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Tech will run at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships held at Ames, Iowa, this Saturday.
