LUBBOCK, Texas - The 2006-07 track and field season has come and gone and the physical competition is over, but the honors keep coming in for Texas Tech as the women's program was named one of 97 programs to produce a 3.0 grade point average during the course of the season by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today. Additionally, nine individuals from both the men and women's sides were recognized as well.
The Red Raider women maintained a 3.059 grade point average, while experiencing one of the program's best seasons. The women finished a program-best fourth at the Big 12 Conference Indoor Championships, while the cross country program was second at the NCAA Mountain Region and sixth in the national meet. The women also finished fourth at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships and NCAA regionals.
Six Red Raider women were honored on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Amanda Alley, Julianne Kennedy, Katie Leonard, Kelley Schulz, Lindsey Walesheck and Patience Knight each maintained at least a 3.25 grade point average and secured an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark, prerequisites for inclusion on the team.
On the men's side, Nathan Lowry, Seth Harris and Zach Glavish were recognized on the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
