
Red Raiders Earn National Recognition in Track Polls

LUBBOCK, Texas - Both of Texas Tech's track squads are receiving attention in two of track and field's top polls, the Trackwire Top 25 and the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association polls. Both teams have earned their highest placing of the outdoor season in this week's Trackwire rankings, as the women are 11th with the men sitting in 18th.
In the USTFCCCA polls, the Texas Tech women are 12th and the men have a 17th-place ranking. In last week's edition, the men had a higher rank of 16th, while the women finished in 14th. Leading the nation for the men is Florida State, while indoor national champion Arizona State leads all women. As the Big 12 Championships loom for the Red Raiders, other ranked men's conference squads are No. 5 Texas and No. 14 Baylor, while the women will take on No. 5 Texas, No. 8 Texas A&M and No. 17 Nebraska.
For the Trackwire Top 25, the Red Raiders sit in their highest position for this season, which was previously tied for 12th for the women and tied for 22nd on the men's side. The men are up five spots from last week's 23rd-place ranking, while the women improved two positions from 13th. Big 12 programs ranked are No. 10 Texas, No. 11 Baylor, No. 22 Nebraska and No. 25 Texas A&M for the men, while the conference women are ranked as No. 8 Texas, No. 14 Texas A&M, No. 15 Nebraska and No. 21 Colorado.
