LUBBOCK, Texas - A year after being named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, Texas Tech sophomore defender Brittney Harrison was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team by the conference coaches today.
The Plano, Texas, product is the first Red Raider to receive a first or second team accolade since Kerri Campbell was named to the second team in 2002.
The award is the fifth for Harrison this season as she was previously a recipient of weekly awards by both Soccer Buzz and Soccer America magazines.
Harrison finished the regular season with three goals, an assist, and a .765 shot-on-goal percentage, despite playing the back line the majority of the season.
Texas A&M's Ashlee Pistorius and Texas' Kasey Moore were named the offensive and defensive player of the year, respectively. Missouri's Alysha Bonnick was selected as the Rookie of the Year, while her head coach Bryan Blitz took the Coach of the Year honor.
Tech looks to continue its successful run Wednesday as the Red Raiders face Missouri in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. The match is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start, and will be broadcast live via www.big12sports.com. Eric Quisenberry and Gabriel Martinez of the Texas Tech Sports Network will also cover the game on texastech.com.
