Women Finish Second in First Meet

CLOVIS, N.M. - The Red Raider women's cross country team wrapped up its first meet in impressive fashion at the Mike Boit Invitational. Freshman Gladys Kipsang took second with a time of 18:05. The team finished second as well behind Wayland Baptist.
Two more Red Raider freshman finished in the top 20 with back-to-back placings of 11th and 12th. Michelle Edman finished slightly ahead of Michlene Daniels, as Edman had a time of 19:28.9 and Daniels finished in 19:31.
Also competing for the women in the second-place effort were freshman Tori Epperson and sophomore Stephanie Lowe. Epperson finished 22nd, clocking a time of 20:11, while Lowe took 35th running in 20:52.
Rachel Kipsang of South Plains took the title spot, finishing first of 69 runners with a time of 17:46. Wayland Baptist finished first in the team standings with their five scoring runners all finishing in the top 20.
Due to an error on the course, the men's race was not scored.
