
Odom, Thames Earn All-American Honors

Sacramento, Calif. - Texas Tech track and field will return to Lubbock with three All-America honors from Sabrina Taylor, Marlon Odom and Sage Thames and has the opportunity to earn two more on the final day of competition on Saturday when Althea Chambers and Bryan Scott run in the finals of their events.
Odom finished sixth in the 110M hurdles final, repeating his place from 2005. Odom clocked a 13.70 to earn the second All-America honor of his career. The 2005 and 2006 Big 12 and Midwest Regional Champion, his season best will stay at 13.45w, run in the prelims at the Midwest Regional Championships.
Thames ended his standout Tech career with a ninth-place finish and All-American honors in the pole vault, the second of his career. Thames cleared 17'-6.5". In addition to his All-American status, Thames is a three-time Academic All-America nominee, a three-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a five-time All-Big 12 performer.
"I'm thankful I was able to compete on the National level my senior year", said the Wolfforth native. "To go out as an All-American my senior is pretty exciting but as an athlete, it's tough to be satisfied. I'm very happy with the career I've had and am thankful for the opportunities competing at Tech has provided me."
Scott qualified for the finals of the 400M hurdles with his semifinal time of 49.88, a season best. Scott was the eighth-fastest semifinal qualifier with the second-fastest time of his career and the third-fastest time in school history.
Irene Kimaiyo finished 16th in the 5,000M finals with a clocking of 16:48.16.
Chambers will run in the 800M finals at 12:05 p.m. and Scott will compete in the finals of the 400M hurdles at 1:02 p.m. CBS will be broadcasting Saturday's running finals live from Sacramento.
