Captains Selected for 2005 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas - QB Cody Hodges, OT E.J. Whitley, DE Keyunta Dawson, CB Khalid Naziruddin and FS Dwayne Slay were elected team captains for the 2005 season by a vote of their teammates, head coach Mike Leach announced following Sunday evening's workout.
While Hodges and Whitley and Dawson and Naziruddin represent the offense and defense, respectively, Slay is the special teams' rep among the group. All but Dawson, who is a junior, are seniors.
Texas Tech begins the 2005 season Sat., Sept. 10, against Florida International at Jones SBC Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT. The Red Raiders play their first four games at home as Sam Houston State (Sept. 17) and Indiana State (Sept. 24) follow the opener. Tech begins Big 12 Conference play against Kansas on Oct. 1.
