Huskers End Tech's Season, 2-1

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Nebraska freshman right-hander Johnny Dorn out dueled Texas Tech's Tanner McElroy as the Huskers eliminated the Red Raiders from the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament with a 2-1 win on Friday evening at Bricktown Ballpark.
Both starting pitchers turned in complete game efforts in what was one of the best pitched Big 12 Tournament games in league history. Husker right-hander Johnny Dorn (10-1) had the upper hand and was credited with the win after pitching all nine innings allowing one earned run on five hits and struckout four.
The Red Raiders got a stellar effort of their own from senior right-hander Tanner McElroy (2-4) who pitched his second complete game in as many starts and allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out five.
The Huskers got all the run support they needed in the top of the sixth on an RBI-triple by Alex Gordon and a sacrifice squeeze bunt by first baseman Curtis Ledbetter.
The Red Raiders answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh when Cody Fuller laced an RBI single into center field that scored Brian Capps from second. Nebraska right-fielder Trey Adams made a diving catch on a ball hit into shallow right by Cooper Fouts and that prevented the Raiders from tying the game at 2-2.
The loss ends the season for Texas Tech and the Red Raiders finish with an overall record of 34-25. Nebraska will move on to face undefeated Missouri in Saturday's semi-final action here at Bricktown Ballpark.
