
Tech Soccer Places 10 on Academic All-Big 12 Team

Lubbock, Texas - After finishing up the 2005 season over the weekend, 10 members of the Texas Tech soccer team were honored on Tuesday for their achievements in the classroom as the Big 12 Conference announced its Academic All-Big 12 team.
The Red Raiders placed eight players on the first team highlighted by senior goalkeeper Megan Knauss, who was one of only three players in the league to post a perfect 4.0 GPA. Joining Knauss on the first team was fellow senior Beth Lippert, junior Ana Morton and sophomores Alex Aton, Kim Cypert, Lauren Lothrop and Ashley Reed. Redshirt freshman Amy Mathiak also earned first team honors.
Senior Karen Stephens and junior Jenna Wetzel represented Texas Tech on the second team.
The ten honorees ties a program-high for the Red Raiders, as Tech also placed 10 players on the Academic All-Big 12 team following the 2001 season.
