LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech soccer honored its four seniors team members for their career achievements in a pregame ceremony, but the Red Raiders could not carry their momentum from the night throughout their match with Colorado on Friday, falling to the Buffaloes by a score of 5-0 at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
Seniors Kimmie Davis, Megan Knauss, Beth Lippert and Karen Stephens took the field for their next to last time as Red Raiders. The group will put the finishing touches on their collegiate soccer careers on Sunday when the Red Raiders take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
In Friday's match, the Buffaloes were able to take an early lead with goals in the 22nd and 26th minutes of the match on tallies by Katie Griffin and Michelle Wenino.
Colorado was able to add a third goal prior to the intermission break as Allison Kidd fired a shot from 25-yards that eluded the grasp of Knauss in goal.
Freshman Chessa Purser was able to generate several offensive chances in the second half, as she sent a pair of shots toward the Buffs net.
The Buffaloes added a pair of goals in the final period to complete the final 5-0 victory and improve their record to 10-6-3 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play. The Red Raiders, meanwhile, drop to 1-17 and 0-9 in Big 12 action.
The 2005 season comes to a close for the Red Raiders on Sunday against Nebraska. Game time is set for noon at R.P. Fuller Stadium.
