COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team dropped a road match to No. 14 Texas A&M on Sunday by a score of 7-0 at the Aggie Soccer Complex in College Station, Texas.
The scoring began in the 21st minute of the first half when Aggie sophomore Ashlee Pistorius gave Texas A&M a 1-0 lead as she chipped a pass from Madison Klovstad over the head of Texas Tech goalkeeper Beth Lippert. The goal was the 11th of the season for Pistorius.
In the 38th minute, Texas A&M extended its lead as Melissa Garey scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season after she corralled a loose ball in the Red Raiders' goalkeeper box.
Senior midfielder Carrie Berend put the Aggies up 3-0 as she converted on a shot from 18-yards off a corner kick that eluded Lippert. Moments later, Garey added her second goal of the afternoon to give Texas A&M its fourth goal of the first half.
Lippert finished the game with four saves and was replaced by senior Megan Knauss in the second half.
Texas A&M added three second half goals to help improve its overall record this season to 12-3-2 overall and 6-2-1 in Big 12 play. With the loss, Texas Tech drops to 1-16 this season and 0-8 in conference action.
