Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech men's tennis squad defeated Texas-Arlington 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the McLeod Tennis Center. The Red Raiders continue to play strong as they improve their overall record to 4-1.
The Red Raiders earned the doubles point after posting wins at each doubles position. Bojan Szumanski teamed up with Esat Tanik at the No. 1 position to defeat Nathan McGregor and Niels Buksik. Tech's Jakob Paulsen and Dinko Halachev paired up to beat David Corrie and Sandy Farquharson at the No. 2 position, while Michael Innerebner and Teddy DiBlasi handled Josey Trimmier and Petri van Ransburg, 8-4.
Tech continued to dominate in singles action as Paulsen breezed past No.21 Corrie, 6-0, 6-2 at the top position. Although the Red Raiders only lost at the No.4 position in singles action, Tech coach Tim Siegel believes there is much work to be done.
"I was very disappointed with our singles play. We definitely have to play better given the strength of our remaining schedule." Siegel said. "I also have to do a better job as well."
The Red Raiders will host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Sunday, February 27 at the McLeod Tennis Center.
