Tech Baseball Inks 18 During Early National Signing Period

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Head Baseball Coach Larry Hays announced the signing of 10 more student-athletes that will join the Red Raiders in 2006 after inking scholarship papers through the early signing period that ended on Wednesday.
The early signing class consists of 18 total players with 12 coming from the junior college ranks and six from high school. The class breakdown leans heaving on pitching as 10 total hurlers were signed along with six outfielders, one utility player and one catcher.
Tim Ahearn, Catcher, 6-0, 190, R/R, Belleuve C.C., Sammamish, Wash.
Played alongside current Red Raider outfielder Brent Thomas last season at Bellevue Community College...was a Second-Team All-NWAACC selection in 2003 after hitting .320 with eight doubles, two triples and finished with four stolen bases.
Roger Kieschnick, OF, 6-3, 200, L/R, Rockwall High School, Rockwall, Texas
A First-Team All-District selection the past two seasons at Rockwall High School in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex...averaging over .310 in his career with three home runs, 18 doubles and five triples.

Was a Second-Team All-Conference selection last year at Angelina C.C. in Lufkin and finished as the eighth best base stealer in the nation...hit .316 with one home run, 10 doubles, three triples and 28 stolen bases.
Aaron Odom, 6-0, 170, L/L, Angelina C.C., Kountze, Texas
Finished with a 3.46 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 52 innings of work last season at Angelina C.C.
Matt Paradoski, 5-11, 165, R/R, Angelina C.C., Cypress, Texas
Was a top hurler last season for Angelina as he went 10-3 on the year with one save...finished with a 2.74 ERA in 22 appearances and struckout 100 batters.
Chris Hobdy, 6-3, 210, R/R, Monterey High School, Lubbock, Texas
Was an All-State, All-South Plains, All-City, All-District and All-Area performer last season at Monterey High School...has a cumulative ERA of 1.84 and an 18-6 record for the Plainsmen.
Cory Large, LHP, 6-2, 170, L/L, L.D. Bell High School, Bedford, Texas
Was the District 5-5A Most Valuable Player last season and also earned All-State honors...tallied a 0.61 ERA and an 8-0 record with four saves...logged 14 appearances and 96 strikeouts.

David Dinsmoore, RHP, 6-1, 230, R/R, Seward County J.C., Reese, Mich.
Transferring to Tech from Seward County J.C. along with current teammate Pat Bridges...went 12-1 last season and finished with a 3.07 ERA in 15 appearances...logged 84 strikeouts...was ranked as one of the Top 10 prospects in the State of Michigan coming out of high school.

Transferring from North Central Texas College in Gainesville...went 8-3 last season with one save...posted a 2.05 ERA in 13 appearances and struckout 49.
Matthew Mallory, RHP, 6-3, 205, R/R, Vernon J.C., Grand Junction, Colo.
Transferring to Tech from Vernon J.C. in Vernon, Texas...went 6-3 last season with a 4.10 ERA...struckout 63 batters in 18 appearances...went 22-1 his final two years of high school and was an All-State selection.
Jake Pulliam, Outfielder, 6-3, 205, R/R, Midland Lee High School, Midland, Texas
Was an All-District selection at Midland Lee High School last season after hitting .320 with five home runs, three doubles, two triples and drew 17 walks.
Blair Wilkins, Outfielder, 5-9, 180, S/R, Mount Hood C.C., The Dalles, Ore.
Will come to Texas Tech from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore.,...hit .405 last season with four home runs, 13 doubles, one triple and was walked 26 times...was a First-Team All-NWAACC selection.
