COMING UP THIS WEEK
The Texas Tech women's soccer team continues its life on the road as the squad will travel to deep East Texas to take on the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks at 7 p.m. on Friday night in Nacogdoches. Following Friday's game, the Red Raiders will travel to San Marcos for a 1 p.m. Sunday game against the Texas State Bobcats.
RAIDERS IN SEARCH OF FIRST WIN
Texas Tech head coach Felix Oskam and his Red Raiders are still in search of their first win of the 2003 season. Texas Tech has lost back-to-back one-goal games including an overtime loss to TCU and a 1-0 shutout at North Texas on Sunday. The Red Raiders will face a Stephen F. Austin team that is 4-2 on the year after an overtime win against UTEP on Friday.
NEW DEFENSE INSTALLED
Texas Tech has installed a new defense and according to head coach Felix Oskam the new system seems to be working. For the first time, Texas Tech is playing a three-man defense that is allowing more of an offensive attack from the forward position. Last week, North Texas was offsides 15 times thanks to this new defensive system. The new defense is also resulting in lower scoring games which will be a benefit to the team for the rest of the season.
