GETTING STARTED
- Texas Tech has won its fifth coin toss of the season and for the first time elected to defer until the second half. The Red Raiders elected to defend the south endzone.
- Texas Tech honored its 2003 senior class in a pre-game ceremony. A total of 15 seniors played their final game at Jones SBC Stadium today: Ryan Aycock (Lubbock, Texas/Coronado H.S.), Loliki Bongo-Wanga (Brussels, Belgium/Hartnell (Calif.) SYMONS BECOMES NCAA SINGLE-SEASON PASSING LEADER
Senior quarterback BJ Symons became the NCAA's single-season passing leader today as he now has 5,336 passing yards this season. Symons moved past Ty Detmer who passed for 5,188 yards during the 1990 season at BYU.
THE SYMONS WATCH
- Symons set a new NCAA 12-game single-season total offense record today as he piled up 256 yards of total offense in the game giving him a total of 5,362 yards of total offense this season.
TECH SETS NEW SEASON ATTENDANCE RECORD
Texas Tech fans turned out in record numbers this season as the Red Raiders surpassed the 2001season attendance record of 49,537. Today's crowd of 53,135 gives Tech an average of 49,608 this season (season total of 297,650).
NOTING THE OFFENSE
- Keith Toogood's 23-yard field goal marked the first points scored in the game as the Red Raiders scored on their first offensive possesion. The field goal was his seventh of the season and he is now 4-for-4 from 20-29 yards on the season.
- Wes Welker's touchdown in the the second quarter tied him with Carlos Francis for career touchdown receptions as he picked up his 21st career TD reception. Welker's touchdown was the first offensive touchdown scored against the Oklahoma defense since their game against Colorado.
- Junior Johnnie Mack picked up his fourth rushing touchdown of his career when he scored with 6:48 remaining in the third quarter.
- Sophomore Taurean Henderson picked up his ninth rushing touchdown of the season when he scored from the 1-yard linewith 14:02 remaining in the game.
- With two rushing touchdowns in the game, Texas Tech now has 19 rushing TD's on the year marking the most since the 1996 season when scored 27 times on the ground.
- The Texas Tech offense put up 359 yards against Oklahoma today marking the most yards given up by the Sooner defense this season.
NOTING THE DEFENSE
- Junior Josh Rangel picked up his first fumble recovery of his career early in the second quarter.
- Chris Hudler recorded his first career sack with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game.
NOTEBOOK
- Today's game against top-ranked Oklahoma marks the fourth time in Texas Tech and Jones SBC Stadium history that the nation's No. 1 played against the Red Raiders in front of a home crowd. The game also marked the seventh time that Tech has faced a top-ranked opponent both at home and on the road.

- Oklahoma ended Texas Tech's nine-game home winning streak as the Sooners posted a 56-25 victory. Tech's last loss came against North Carolina State during the 2002 season. The nine-game streak was the second longest streak in the Big 12 behind OU's 13-game home streak.
- Today's attendance was 53,135. The game marked the second-straight sellout and the fifth-largest crowd in school history.
