LUBBOCK, Texas - The 14th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers scored two goals in the second half to walk away with a 3-1 win over Texas Tech in Big 12 soccer action on Sunday afternoon at R.P. Fuller Stadium in Lubbock.
For the third straight game Texas Tech came out firing as the Red Raiders scored the first goal of the game when Jennifer Vasquez hit a chip shot over the Nebraska goalie 20 minutes into the game. Tech's offense would go stagnant from there as the Red Raiders managed just three more shots-on-goal the rest of the game.
Nebraska tied the game with a Jessie Bruch goal at the 36-minute mark to knot the game at 1-1 going into halftime. Nikki Baker scored what turned out to be the winning goal 13 minutes into the second half. The Huskers added its final point 65 minutes into the game on an unassisted goal from Ashley Carter.
The Red Raiders return to action on Friday as they travel to College Station for a match-up against No. 3 Texas A&M. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
