LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech gave its three seniors a great home farewell as the Red Raiders dropped the Missouri Tigers 3-1 in the final regular-season home game at R.P Fuller Stadium on Sunday morning.
The win improves Texas Tech to 3-12-1 on the season and 2-7-0 in league play and most importantly keeps Tech's chance of a Big 12 Tournament berth alive.
In a pre-game ceremony Texas Tech Head Coach Felix Oskam and the team honored seniors Tiana Boyea, Catie Arsenault and Kerri Campbell who were playing the final home game of their careers.
The first half was a defensive battle as neither team was able to score through the first 43 minutes but it was the Tigers that got on board first with a goal at the 43:01 mark. Shea Swoboda scored the unassisted goal for Missouri that gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, it was all Texas Tech as Karen Stephens tied the game 11 minutes in thanks to assists from Meghan Blume and Kerri Campbell. Freshman Jennifer Vasquez scored what turned out to be the winning goal 20 minutes later on an assist from Stephens.
Kim Warren scored her third goal of the season late in the half to push the Red Raider lead to 3-1.
Texas Tech will conclude the 2003 regular-season on Friday as Tech will take on the Baylor Bears at 7 p.m. in Waco.
