COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team could not overcome a late goal, as they fell to Idaho State 1-0 at the Texas A&M Fazoli's Classic in College Station, Texas, this afternoon.
In the first half, neither team could solve the other's defense as the Bengals held a slim 6-5 advantage in shots. In her first game back from a broken nose, goalkeeper Lindsay Fish (Dallas, Texas) made four saves.
It was Idaho State (5-2) who broke through in the second half however. Stacey Peterson took a give and go pass from Heather Hunt and beat Fish from six yards out to give the Bengals the game's only score. During the second half, Tech was out shot 9-5 and allowed three corner kicks while forcing only one itself.
The Red Raiders (2-5) have now lost five strait matches after starting the season 2-0 for the first time since 1996. This is the third time this season that the Red Raiders have been shutout by their opponent. Nicole Frilot (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Carrie Jones (Watauga, Texas) and Marla Roberts (San Antonio, Texas) drew the first starts of their Texas Tech soccer careers.
Tech will be back in action in its final pre-conference match against the Florida Atlantic Owls on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. to round out the Texas A&M Fazoli's Classic.
