
Tech Soccer heads towards El Paso

Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer team will travel to El Paso, Texas, to play in the UTEP Miner Classic this weekend. The Red Raiders will take on the Miners of UTEP Friday night at 7 p.m. and wrap up tournament play against the Lobos of New Mexico on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
The opening match for Tech is favorable as Tech (2-2) is undefeated against UTEP (3-0) in five matches. With the 3-2 overtime win last year in Lubbock; the Raiders improved their home winning steak to 3-0. Saturday's match against the UNM (2-2-0) will be the fifth meeting between the two teams with the Lobos holding a 2-1-1 advantage.
Midfielder Kerri Campbell (Duncanville, Texas) leads the offensive charge with a goal and two assists for a team high of four points, while sophomore Roxanne Frilot (Albuquerque, N.M.) adds three points with a goal and an assist. Beth Lippert (Woodinville, Wash.) has been strong between the pipes for the Raiders, replacing injured starter Lindsay Fish (Dallas, Texas).
The last time out the Red Raiders lost in a tough match to West Texas A&M. Catie Arsenalt (Keller, Texas) played a lead role in the game, but the Raiders could not defend the last minute goal by the Lady Buffs.
After this weekends' play the Red Raiders will return to R.P. Fuller stadium on Fri., Oct. 4, for its Big 12 Conference opener against the Missouri Tigers at 7 p.m.
