LUBBOCK, Texas - The College Sports Information Directors of America recently announced that the 2002 Texas Tech Baseball Media Guide placed third in the national baseball publications contest while the cover of the guide was judged as "Best In The Nation."
The 2002 Texas Tech Baseball Media guide is a publication of the Texas Tech Athletic Media Relations Office and was one of 70 entries in an annual national contest that awards excellence in publications. Tech's third place finish in this year's contest marks the first time that the baseball media guide has placed in the Top 10.
This is the second straight year that the media relations office has earned baseball publications awards as last year's baseball game programs earned "Best In The Nation" honors.
The cover of the 2002 guide that featured players Austin Cranford, Nick Blankenship, Chris Phillips, Bryon Smith and Gera Alvarez was judged as "Best In The Nation." The cover was designed by Blayne Beal and TJ Tucker of Texas Tech Creative Services.
